He looked down at his plate and was surprised to realize that yeah, he'd stopped eating.

He shook his head slightly and resumed, with a little bit of speed. "Thank you."

It was going to be a short conversation before he fell asleep sitting up, waiting on Anakin to wake up.

It felt like both a minute and an eternity had passed since he'd shut his eyes.

He was aware of sounds first - a machine beeping, but slowly. As he focused on it, became more attuned to it, the speed of the sound quickened.

It was still yet more time before he opened his eyes. He was vaguely aware that the Force was a thing, a thing he couldn't do more than passively feel. And it was odd, because that fact should seem odd to him, or alarming, but he didn't care, actually.

He felt... fine, just as he was.

Opening his eyes and taping that sense was just as slow for him as sound had been. Nothing came into focus for what seemed like forever. But when the shape and pattern of the ceiling did make sense to him, it was unfamiliar.

And age and a day later he could move his eyes just a fraction to the side and there was Obi-Wan. He tried to smile, but he didn't have control over more than his eyes just yet.

He smiled slightly when he noticed Anakin's eyes on him. "You were badly injured and you're still under the influence of quite a few drugs." Orienting Anakin was important he thought.

He reached out and slid his fingers over the back of Anakin's hand, then curled his fingers lightly around it. "Welcome back." He loved Anakin. He hurt for Anakin, but he loved him so, so much.

The best Anakin could do was curl his finger slightly at the pressure of Obi-Wan's hand. The warmth was inviting and reassuring.

It took him a while, but he eventually managed the word, "Where?"

He started to sweep his thumb back and forth along the side of Anakin's hand in a slow, steady, rhythm.

"We're on one of Bail's medical transport ships. You're safe."

Each minute he was awake, the fog around his mind and the weight on his limbs lessened. He could return the touch in kind, though the movement of his thumb is much slower than Obi-Wan's.

"What's the-" his voice was getting better, too. "Damage?"

"You were in bacta for quite a while. The life threatening damage has healed." He was slow, steady, patient, quiet, and warm in the force and tone. "There will probably be another surgery and possibly some sort of implant required for your spine. I'm sorry."

"Oh?"

He wasn't exactly surprised. Though his memories were a bit fuzzy about everything that had happened, he did remember he'd been stabbed.

He tried moving his legs - which until now he'd not even thought about, and he couldn't do it. He tried just a toe. Also couldn't. They must have him stabilized him to prevent any further damage.

"Spine? that's ... new."

And he was too drugged up to be worried about it.

But Obi-Wan...

"You?"

"Me?" Of course Anakin would ask about him, even drugged to the point of not caring about being unable to move his legs. "I'm tired and worried about you, but I'm perfectly fine." Well, perfectly physical fine but even emotionally he wasn't in trouble. "Glad you're awake."

"You worried... isn't fine," Anakin said. He really wanted to touch Obi-Wan's face and tried lifting his hand. He wasn't really able to make it very far.

"It is." He smiles, just a little. "Because I'm worried because I love you, and loving you is fine." He takes the hand when it starts to reach, does the lifting for Anakin and presses a kiss in the center of his palm.

"That's new..." Anakin could smile now.

He wished he had better control over the Force so he could reach for Obi-Wan there as well. He'd missed that closeness. Ever since Obi-Wan's brush with the Dark Side, he'd held that part of him back, giving Obi-Wan space. He didn't want space right now.

"The next procedure- when?"

"I don't know yet. I don't think anyone does. You've only just regained consciousness, after-all." Patience, Anakin. There's still a slight smile and he kept Anakin's hand though lowers it to the bed to hold. "Are you in that much of a hurry?"

"You'd ask the same," Anakin said, though being as drugged as he was, it didn't have near the same sassy bite as he wanted.

"I love you... Old Man."

"I am not old," he protested, but jokingly and with a warm, light, brush through the force that ruffled Anakin's hair just a bit. "Do you want me to push for answers on when surgery will happen?"

"Show off," he said and closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of Obi-Wan using the Force to brush his hair.

"It'd be nice." And after a pause. "Thank you."

He gave Anakin's hand a gentle squeeze but wasn't quite comfortable enough to do what he really wanted - lean down and kiss Anakin.

"I'll be right back," he promised, then let go of Anakin's hand to go find those answers.

Post-surgery, Anakin was once again in bed, drugs slow wearing off. But he was awake and more lucid than he'd been before, idly lacing his fingers with Obi-Wan's. And he could barely touch the Force and manipulate it, but he was content with the act of using it to brush through Obi-Wan's hair.

"It's a good thing I'm drugged... I'd be bored out of my mind otherwise... I'd be trying to get out of bed." His smile widened. "Or do things in bed."

He laughs at the smile widening around the idea of sex. "Instead you're inebriated out of your mind. Be good, be patient, and heal. I'll give you a blowjob once you have."

...He's exhausted, but he's also relieved.

The fact that he didn't physically respond to that was a testament to how drugged up he was. None the less, he was enjoying himself.

He pulled on Obi-Wan's hand.

"Come up here then and pin me down so I stop wiggling. And tell me what you've been doing while I was out of it."

"I don't think being directly on top of you at the moment is the best idea." He did get up though and move to sitting on the edge of Anakin's bed, turned so that he was facing Anakin. "But we can work something out." He reached for Anakin's wrists, gently, but also for the Force.

Yes, it was probably best for him if Obi-Wan wasn't directly on top of him, but that didn't mean he wasn't a little disappointed. His curiosity got him through it.

"What are you thinking?"

He smiled, slightly. "That I can pin you down and give you intimacy without being on top of you, if that is what you actually need right now."

Anakin liked the sound of intimacy. It didn't need to be sexual. He just missed Obi-Wan, he missed Obi-Wan responding to him.

"I need you close," he said, tugging on Obi-Wan hand that was hold him.

"And what do you need?"

Intimacy did not need to be sexual at all - at least not to be intimate, and given Anakin's current condition certainly would not be.

"I need you to be still; you just got out of surgery. I'm close and I'm staying close."
