Canon History
The long answer and this is the short answer.

Anakin Skywalker is the titular character of the Star Wars series. Born a slave, he was later raised and trained to use the Force and to be a Jedi Knight by his Jedi Master and closest friend Obi-Wan Kenobi. As an adult, he defied the Jedi Code by falling in love with and marrying Padmé Amidala, with whom he later had a son and daughter (twins named Luke and Leia). He was a hero of the Clone Wars, and then he fell to the Dark Side due to Darth Sidious’ (aka, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine) manipulations. As the feared Sith Lord, Darth Vader, he helped destroy the Jedi Order and maintain Palpatine’s Empire for 23 years. His son, Luke, saved him by bringing him back to the Light Side, and Anakin then "killed" Palpatine by tossing him down the reactor shaft of Palpatine's prized weapon, the Death Star II. But doing this cost Anakin his life, and he died shortly after this heroic act. However, Anakin learned how to return as a ghost from the afterlife and occasionally made an appearance to his progeny or encourage the occasional impressionable youth to rebel against their reincarnated evil grandfather.

Canon Personality
Anakin is gregarious, bombastic, and given to emotional extremes. Though he is well intentioned, generous, and is quick to love, he struggles with impulse control, emotional competency and control, maintaining attention and focus on a singular task, and time management. He suffers from severe separation anxiety and has never recovered completely from his first education as a slave (extreme trauma = CPTSD) which often manifests as being quick to anger. He is driven to help people, but often loses sight of the final goal and gets side tracked.

He doesn't know what to do with all his overwhelming emotions (Jedi are taught to suppress their emotions), and so acts on them in inappropriate ways.

He is at his best when he's moving - described as being 'always on the move' and 'recklessly brilliant' he has a knack for coming up with solutions on the fly. This is a feature of his first experiences with the Force as a child of 6 forced to participating in high speed races that normally humans are incapable of handling. The Force was his aid in those races, and that introduction to the Force has stuck with him and has been a habit of how he approaches using the Force in his life.

In his early twenties, he fell completely to the Dark Side, taking on the name Darth Vader. As Vader, he let his anger, fear, and aggression control him and his actions. He has a terrible temper he doesn't even try to control, and at its worse, he'll try to kill you for inconviencing him. Though still possessing an unending well of energy and drive, he used his power to strong arm his way into getting what he wanted. He was merciless in battle and his creativity in using the Force to win was partnered with a dispassionate cruelty that was not a trait of his before his fall.

CRAU History
After the destruction of Palpatine, at the end of Rise of Skywalker, Anakin was plucked from his peaceful existence as an immortal being in the Force and dropped into a new life (another game) on plain old earth. His memories of his past life were kept from him for many years. This new life had some eerie similarities to his first life (though he didn’t realize that until he regained all his memories).

Anakin Skywalker was born to single mother, Shmi Skywalker in 1990 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. When he was three, Anakin vaguely remembered moving into the mobile home where he would live until he was 10 - in the impovrished Twin Suns Trailer Park. The mobile home park was owned by a man named Watto, who also happened to own the adjacent junk yard and shop. Shmi and Anakin lived well below the poverty line, but Shmi did her best to give Anakin everything she could, and he knew he was very much loved. He never learned who his father was.

Shmi worked long hours at a local diner. Anakin would often spend time in Watto's junk yard until his mother came home. The man would toss him some junk to toy with to keep him out from under foot. Working with these simple machine sparked something in him. His inquisitive mind wanted to know what had made it work. The wires and connections were fascinating, like a puzzle. Not being scholastically inclined (that damned ADHD) Shmi, knowing a small bit herself, walked him through the basic steps. After gaining that small bit of knowledge, he found it easier to focus, especially through experimentation. He was tinkering with parts from then on.

One day, a number of older teens came to the junk yard looking for spare parts for their dirt bikes. Intrigued, Anakin had to learn all about these dirt bikes. This was his introduction into the competitive sport of motocross. Anakin started entering competitions with the bikes he was able to scrounge together from the parts in Watto's yard.

During his childhood, Anakin developed a love of flying. He was six years old when Shmi took him to see the Blue Angels. She had a friend who lived quite close to the airfield where the event was taking place and from there they watched the show. Anakin was enthralled. He knew that someday he would be in the cockpit of an aircraft like that, and he started studying fighter-jets as much as he did dirt bikes or any other machines.

However, there were a few giant hurtles to his desired goal. His poverty and his scholastic aptitude.

Anakin was not unintelligent; however, he suffered from his undiagnosed ADHD - too much energy, very little emotional control, and an inability to focus for long periods of time - all of which made school a struggle. He knew so much about dirt bikes, planes, and machines, and struggled with everything else.

But he got lucky.

During a school fieldtrip to the state capital, a senator talked to Anakin's class about the latest bill he was presenting before the state legislature. The bill involved the acquisition of military manufacturing contracts for the state of Arizona, and in explaining the purpose of the bill the senator miss-identified a specific make of aircraft the bill was meant to cover. Though bored out of his mind, Anakin’s ears were particularly attuned to pick up any mention of military aircraft; and being outspoken, he simply blurted out the correct make of the aircraft. Anakin's teacher was quick to try and silence this rude outburst; however, the senator was amused by his cheekiness. He made a point of talking to Anakin after the class was finished in his office. And from there the senator started taking a keen interest in the boy's circumstances. A bit of PR charity work always looked well for campaigns.

He pulled some strings to get Anakin and Shmi into a highly sought after program that assisted low income families into better housing. The best help was getting them into a program that assisted families with ADHD children, all expenses paid with grants. Medication and behavioral therapy where available to them now. This really improved Anakin's scholastic marks.

With a lot of practice, and some help from the senator, when he reached 18 Anakin joined the Air Force. The senator gave Anakin the recommendation he needed to secure him a spot at the Air Force Academy.

Once in the service, Anakin found aspects of this career path he enjoyed and parts he did not. He possessed a strong, defiant personality and questioned authority often. He had his way of doing things and often times that clashed with his commanding officers. But he loved flying. He majored in aeronautic and aerospace engineering - he wanted to know those planes inside and out - and if he were truly honest, he'd admit he enjoyed the military training just as much as he did the airmanship program and the science courses. The first time he was in the cockpit of an actual plane, though, he knew he was right where he ought to be. It felt like magic.

During his time in the Academy, Shmi met and married Cleigg Lars. He was able to meet the man once at the Academy graduation when his mother and Cleigg came up for the ceremony.

When Anakin was 24, Shmi became quite ill and was diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer. Anakin had been posted to the 31st Fighter Wing at the Aviano Air Base in Italy and could only observe his mother's illness from afar - through phone conversations and Skype. Her prognosis was terminal, and the predicted time left was a couple of weeks. In the end, it was not enough time for Anakin to secure permission for military leave. Shmi died a few days later and Anakin was devastated. With no other anchor, he threw himself into his work.

A year or so later he was part of a serious accident on the air field. He lost his right arm below the elbow, scarred a good portion of his right side, and added another acronym to his mental health status (PTSD), when he risked his life to save the life of his commanding officer. He received a medical discharge, treatment and a prosthetic arm, and fare back to the Arizona. Cleigg was gracious enough to let him stay with them while he recuperated. He appreciated his kindness but he found he couldn't easily stay where his mother had died. Soon he felt the urge to find something to take him away from Lake Havasu City.

Not long after this realization, the senator he once knew contacted him and helped him once again – putting him in contact with the foremost physicians in the field of prosthetics, getting him into a experimental program for a robotic prosthetic, and offering him a position on his staff. Anakin accepted the former and declined the latter. Though he was grateful for the offer, he simply had no mind for politics. Instead, Anakin followed a job offer for aerospace engineering in Irvine, CA. Once he secured the job and found a place to live, he felt like he could finally look forward to something again.

Not long after moving to California he met Ahsoka (who was his former apprentice in his former life) and she told him they'd shared a life together. He didn't believe her at first - he'd only just met her. But then he started dreaming about another life. The first memory he dream about was of a traumatic event with Ahsoka: when she was framed for treason and expelled from the Jedi Order.

Next he got back his canon prosthetic arm and the memories surrounding how that happened.

Then his powers started coming back. The one he disliked the most was the extra-sensory empathic abilities. They felt intrusive to him. He couldn’t turn them off and they were hard to block out.

From there, his memories returned to him in a more linear fashion (he dreamed about being a slave, meeting the Jedi, joining the Order, and then all the terrible things he did as Vader). His powers came back to him at about the same rate as his memories.

He didn’t like his memories from the start, they felt intrusive (they came with emotions that felt out of his control) and it really only went downhill from there because his first life didn’t have many highlights. And those few highlights were followed by half a lifetime nightmare of being a villain.

Throughout getting back his memories, Anakin struggled with accepting his identity and the fear that he might become the person he dreamed about. It was only by leaning on a strong support network of friends that he got through all those memories. Ahsoka, along with close friends Lily Evans and Yondu Udonta, helped him cope with the memories and the powers that came with them. And with his fear of turning into his old, villainous self.

CRAU Personality
Everything about Anakin in his CRAU personality is a bit gregarious. Big emotions, big intentions, and big dreams all.

But ever since his accident and getting his canon memories, some things changed.

He has a generous heart and enjoys helping people in need. He finds injustice intolerable and can’t stand class inequality, having experienced extreme poverty in childhood and the loss of his mother due to an inadequate health care system in the USA. He wants to love and to be loved in return. Without thinking, he would give everything he had, including his life, for the ones he cares about. He used to tend towards caring about people quickly and easily. Now he struggles with opening up to new people, due to a large dose of cynicism after the death of his mother, the loss of his arm, and loss of his career as a fighter jet pilot. This was exacerbated by the return of his memories, most particular the dark ones. Ever since getting those memories, he'd doubted his ability to be good, so he holds back from getting to know people.

The fighter jet accident left him with PTSD which he treated with therapy and medication – but it affected every aspect of his life. He has to organize his life around triggers that might make him flash back to the crash or might start a panic attack, which makes adjusting to a new city and meeting new people a bit difficult. He was no stranger to therapy and meds before the accident, however, as he had a lot of that growing up in Arizona after his ADHD diagnosis. Some days, he doesn’t know which loss hurts the most – his arm or his career or the memories of his first life (usually the memories win out). Like with his other mental health challenges, he has the tools to deal with this, and is trying his best to get it right, even if he doesn’t always succeed.

He always intends to do well, and sometimes he even succeeds in following through on those intentions. But he is easily distracted (ADHD and all that), and staying on target is a feat of herculean proportions for him. He’s come a long way since before he was properly diagnosed in his childhood. He was able to utilize the coping mechanisms he learned in therapy in his youth to get into the Air Force Academy (okay, with some help with friends in high places), but he excelled once in. And he has a job now that he's able to hold down with a combination of therapy, medication, hard work and an easy charm. But it’s not uncommon for him to sit down at a mechanical project (like building a bike) and blow off an entire day’s To Do List without even realizing the passage of time or to blurt out the first thing that comes to mind only to realize after saying it that that probably should have stayed an ‘inside thought.’

He’s ambitious enough to try to do whatever it is he sets his mind to. Like becoming a fighter jet pilot – he was dirt poor, barely making it in school, coping with ADHD, but he never doubted for a second he should try. This ambition leaks into every aspect of his life – one of the boons he brought to his design team at work was his ability to see beyond the boundaries of current limitations and ask the ‘What if’ questions that might hold other researchers back.

Humor comes naturally for him, so much so, he’s started using it as a shield to deflect people away from sensitive topics – his mother’s death, the loss of his arm, losing his dream job. As a millennial, though, he does this through memes and self-depreciating jokes.

Of course, this loud exuberance isn’t always beneficial. Along with being easily distracted, and impulsive (he can be susceptible to suggestion) his ADHD has blessed him with difficulty controlling his emotions or to consider the consequences of his choices in great detail. Sure, he knows that explosions are dangerous, and that the combination of speed plus flammables is volatile, especially when impacts with solid objects are factored in; but he doesn’t always consider the danger, just the excitement. It should be noted, that with as much therapy as he’s had, he can do both, but they take great effort.

All of this is made easier when he stays on his meds. But sometimes he forgets to take his meds. Those days aren’t fun for anyone.

▶ Powers / Abilities: Anakin is the strongest, most powerful Jedi of his time. He can manipulate the Force (space magic of his canon); he has heightened senses, durability, strength, endurance, speed, and reflexes; empathic abilities (including mind reading and mind control, aka the Jedi Mind Trick); telekinesis (with the ability to lift and control massive objects like capital war spaceships, or tasks as creating air bubbles around another person's head to enable breathing underwater, holding back the energy blasts of explosions, and 'Force Stasis' - using the Force to hold an object in place); precognition, and fast self healing abilities for non-immediate-life threatening injuries. He can use the Force to sense things like residual brain activity in a recently deceased sentient, sense the residual life signature left by people once in a room (but have no left), and identifying objects without needing to see them. He is an exceptional pilot. And he has a particular talent with technomancy (he's like a machine/electronics-whisper). He is proficient in a number of lightsaber forms but excels at what is called Form V, and he is skilled with fighting with a number of other weapons: bo, whips, knives, and guns.

His non-Force abilities include an extensive understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering, pop culture memes, how to be the most annoying
